COOPACSOL is a Savings, Credit and Multi-Service Cooperative, constituted and operating in accordance with the cooperative legislation of the Dominican Republic. We are committed to operating with transparency, integrity and full compliance with our regulatory obligations.
What is IDECOOP and what role does it play?
The Institute for Cooperative Development and Credit (IDECOOP) is the Dominican State body responsible for promoting, regulating and supervising all cooperatives in the country — including COOPACSOL. Its role is to ensure that each cooperative operates with solvency, transparency and responsibility toward its members.
In practice, IDECOOP supervision means that COOPACSOL is formally registered as a cooperative with the Dominican State, reports its financial and management situation to IDECOOP periodically, and must operate under the democratic and governance principles of cooperativism (one member, one vote; surplus reinvested for the benefit of members). The Dominican Republic has more than 800 cooperatives registered with IDECOOP; cooperativism is a recognized pillar of local economic development.
